Valentine's Day is special to many people. It's a day when we're reminded to be thankful for the people we are close to and a day to take the time to reconnect with our partner. I'm so grateful for my husband. He is truly the most gentle person I know, is always attentive to me and my needs, and is an outstanding father. The patience this man has!
As for spending time to reconnect, well, my hubby and I have a running joke about how we could possibly top last Valentine's Day. We spent it in Home Depot looking at items for our house. Now while that may sound pretty lame to some folks, it was down right wonderful to us. We were together. We were planning our future. For us - heavenly.
How did we top it this year? We ate in and watched a movie together cuddled on the couch. Doesn't sound too exciting, right? But again, we were together, relaxed, just us and our son. For us - heavenly. See, it's not about the cards or flowers or presents (although those things are nice too - and I did get some touching Valentine's Day surprises from my hubby and my son) it's the moments we get to hang out, just being. Quite frankly, there is no place I'd rather be than on my couch snuggling with my two favorite people in the whole world.
The thing is, having someone in your life who loves and accepts you for who you are and doesn't expect you to be anything else beyond that...well, if you have that, you have everything.
How was your Valentine's Day? Did you take the time to reconnect? Did you get past the commericial aspects of the holiday to remember to tell the important people in your life that you love them? Better yet, why wait until Valentine's Day? Do it tomorrow. Do it every single day.
Sigh. I'm getting all mushy inside as I type this note. Any wonder I write romance?
