Attract the Ideal Mate

Okay, folks. I recently put together a little love spell for you. Tired of just imagining your perfect hero? Ready to attract him/her into your life? This is an easy one...enjoy! P.S. For those uncomfortable with the word spell, think of this as a positive affirmation - there is really no difference between the two except that the spell has more focused and prolonged intent - and brings faster results!

Spell for the Ideal Mate

Best day to perform: Friday
Best moon cycle: Waxing

You'll need a small pink candle (a birthday candle works in a pinch!), an oil of your choice (vanilla or rose work best, but pick a scent you like, making sure it's one that can be worn on the skin), small piece of rose quartz crystal, a list you've written which starts with the heading: I love myself, and I'm perfect and whole just as I am. I deserve the perfect mate in my life, and I'm in a healthy loving
relationship with the ideal partner for me.
(Important: refer to this person as already being in your life.) This person is: list all of the traits you want in your mate.

Place all items on a table. Visualize yourself and the table surrounded by a bubble of sparkling white light, filled with energy.

Read your list, starting with I love myself.

Say "As I anoint this candle, I set my intent, as the candle burns, my request is sent, as the candle flickers out, my spell is brought about."

Rub the oil into the candle while imagining all the qualities you desire in a mate. Don't think of a particular person. Trying to force someone to love you isn't ethical and will have very unsatisfactory results!

Light the candle.

Dab a little oil onto the crystal and say "Oil to stone, let my lover be known." Let the candle burn down.

For the next few weeks, or until your perfect mate arrives, wear some of the oil or carry the crystal with you. Every time you apply the oil or touch the crystal, know your spell worked. Know you are beautiful and perfect just as you are, and you are deserving and worthy of your ideal mate. So mote it be!

I'm a MAGGIE Award Finalist!

Between Light and Dark is a finalist in the prestigious Maggie Award of Excellence contest for published romance authors. Here's the link for their site. The book is a finalist in the paranormal category.

I'm super excited about this - and am no doubt up against some stiff competition (this contest always seems to draw the top selling authors as finalists -guess that's why they're top selling authors, right? They're good writers!)But regardless of the fact I'm no doubt the underdog here (my stepkids loved that movie by the way....) I do BELIEVE in my magic. Believing is half the battle.

Which reminds of a blog I intend to do soon regarding my recent attendance at the RWA National (romance writers of america) conference in DC. It was a wonderful conference and a learning experience for me in many ways both personally and professionally. More on that soon. In the meantime, I'm already thinking about what to wear for that awards ceremony in GA in October...

Now, I'm off to fly like that furry superhero...Underdog!!! 'There's no need to fear, Underdog is here..."

So far, the story includes a vamp, werewolf, fallen angel, dragon, zombies, and a kick-ass heroine. There's no telling what the next author in line will come up with.

Slumdog Millionaire

Just got done watching Slumdog Millionaire. I totally see why this movie won - what was it - 8 Oscars? It was a sad, disturbing film in many ways...but after we finished watching it, my hubby and I turned to each other and had the same thought. The movie actually makes a point...every event in your life, even awful ones, can have a purpose of some sort. Even if we don't always know what that purpose is at the time. (often, we don't) Now, if only all the crappy things I've dealt with in my life were leading me to a lottery win...hmmm...come to think of it, I haven't checked my last couple tickets!

Romance Sales are on the RISE!

Good news for those of us writing in the genre. And according to this NY Times article, paranormal elements are in high demand. Even better!

READ ON...

Looks like I'd better polish all those proposals I have lingering on my desk and get them to my agent. I've got some more books to sell!
